Send Rep. Brown a little note of support…
If you’re proud of Rep. Lisa Brown for standing up for ALL women, maybe send her a little note to let her know you’ve got her back. I’m sure she’s taking heat from the Republicans in her district. Balance out the trash and attack crap with a little show of support.

GOP is Staging a War Against The Violence Against Women Act…Because It Contains A Provision to Protect Lesbians From Violence!!!
This week, the U.S. Senate is set to vote on the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.
The bill has never been controversial, but now many Republicans in the House and Senate are opposing reauthorization. This takes their war on women to a whole new level.
This landmark legislation empowers local communities by providing essential resources to combat domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
Expiration is unimaginable. Yet that’s where we’re headed.
Our progress could be reversed at a time when we need to push forward. We have to act now, before the vote.
Click here to tell Congress to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act immediately. This can’t fail.
Since its passage in 1994, this law has been an unqualified success. The number of women killed by an intimate partner has fallen 34%.
The new version of the bill not only continues proven programs, but extends protections to more people, including those in same-sex relationships.
We can’t stand by and allow extremist Republicans to eliminate this legislation.
Click here to take action now—before this critical Senate vote.

Former Republican congressman Pete Hoekstra, who is now running to unseat Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), weighed in on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act on Thursday, saying the law was a “nuisance” that shouldn’t be in place.
….
Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law in 2009 and considers it one of the key achievements of his presidency. The law — which was heavily opposed by Republicans — provides women with more legal channels through which to pursue equal pay for equal work. Hoekstra, at the time a congressman, voted against the measure when it came up in the House of Representatives…..
